Well if any of y'all have read my previous posts, I was trying to get an AR alternative. I have seen the light (because of the availability, compatibility,
previous training, and because everybody has one) so I am researching one to buy. I think I have it down to either the Stag 2T or the DPMS Mark 12. Anybody
have any experience with these or prefer other AR's? I am trying to keep the rifle under $1500 so I am able to buy an EOtech and a Grip-Pod.

Whatever you decide on, try to keep it as milspec as possible. Also, be sure it has a chrome lined barrel and a 1:7 twist.

From what I have read the Stag is closer to mil-spec. I have been looking at a stag upper for a while now, I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Meh.....Stag only offers 1 in 9 barrels and their bolt keys are not properly installed. For the money I would go with a CMMG M-4 upper

Make sure the barrel is 5.56 and not .223.
5.56 will handle either round, where as a .223 barrel will only handle the .223 round. |

After evaluating some choices I think I am going to get the DPMS Mark 12. It has a stainless steel barrel that is teflon-coated black, 1:8 barrel twist, and
all the add-ons I want. It is great because it is more compact then a standard M-16, and has a longer barrel than an M4 to increase accuracy. I think it fits
the best of both worlds for me.

I have been nothing but happy with my two stags. Stags are a 1 in 9. The gas keys look to be staked in properly to me, but hey......
This one is built on a cmmg lower with rra's two stage national match. I just got the eotech today.

The SUV is my 99 F-350 powerstroke. I put one of the NObama stickers on my F-150, and it took all of about a week for it to get vandalized. It would appear even in a very red state there are still liberals who think that freedom of speech applies only to them...........It has a new sticker. We'll see how long it lasts. The Powerstroke sticker is still there, but I dont drive it much.
